EIS Inter School eMUN-India's First School Hosted Online MUN

As the world continues to grapple with the invisible enemy in coronavirus, and people across the world continue to face lockdowns of different kinds, it is extremely important to address an important issue "The War After This War".

Elpro International School, Pune in association with SkillSphere Education hosted a refreshing and novel concept "one of India"s first digital Model United Nations conferences. With 8 different UN committees comprising of 16-17 delegates each, EIS Inter School eMUN witnessed participation from students belonging to 27 schools and 12 cities across India! Each of the MUN committees discussed issues revolving around the theme 'The War After the War'.

Combating the economic repercussions of the global lockdown; discussing the legalization of 4th generation warfare; addressing Yemen's deteriorating situation among a range of other topics were discussed as a part of the eMUN conference. Sessions were conducted via Zoom meeting rooms with SkillSphere Education trainers and EIS students presiding over committees.

Dr Amrita Vohra, Principal, Elpro International School says, "In times like these when the world is shifting to a "new normal" and embracing the digital space like never before, we thought of taking mere online teaching to another level. Not all students like to sit through the usual class and understandably so. What is important is that we keep providing them with different kind of platforms and with our e- MUN, we did just that. As always the students have stayed true to the spirit of MUN culture and come up with some meaningful deliberations. As a school leader it is only my duty to ensure that all children are productively engaged."

Says Anansh Prasad, Founder and MD of SkillSphere Education, "We have launched India's first eMUN series and the results are astounding. Digital conferences allow for participation of students from a range of geographies seamlessly. Students get a lot more exposure and make constructive use of their time while sitting at home. Additionally, EIS Inter School eMUN was highly successful owing to high levels of focus on research, debate and documentation by the participants. We plan to take these eMUNs forward in a big way and would like to thank EIS for giving us the opportunity to organize the digital conference."
