REPUBLIC DAY E-ASSEMBLY

The 72nd Republic Day was celebrated at Elpro International School (EIS) in all its solemnity and grandeur. EIS planned a virtual celebration, with students of grade 7 hosting the Republic Day E-Assembly. With the spirit of ‘One Nation, One Vision and One Identity’, EIS began the celebration with Director-Principal, Dr. Amrita Vohra hoisting our national flag in the school premises.

As a part of the cultural program, students lent a melodious rendition to the celebration, and thus expressed their national pride. Two of EIS students, Shivansh and Kushagra, took the audience through the journey of the Constitution of India. Highlighting the cultural diversity and heritage of the Indian Republic, Nishad Pande presented Raag Yaman, Ankita Bharti performed a beautiful Kathak dance, while Anushree and Avni presented Bharatnatyam dance for the occasion. Providing an interesting edge to the celebration, Misha Santani introduced the audience to the Santhal tribe of India and Palakshi shared some fascinating aspects of Hampi, which is a city of historical significance in Karnataka.

Followed by was a tribute to the Bard of Bengal, presented by Idris Bambora who sang the Bengali patriotic Rabindra Sangeet “Ekla Chalo Re”. Adding poetic spirit to the celebration, Atharva Phadnis recited a Marathi Poetry, Powada, which recounted the story of Battle of Pratapgarh.

The most special part of the celebration was students standing in solidarity with ‘Make in India’ Project and being ‘Vocal for local’ for some Indian organizations that are truly the pride of India. Lauding the efforts contributed by students, coordinators and teachers, Dr. Amrita Vohra put forward a significant message, “Republic Day is synonymous with ‘responsibility’”, thus reminding everyone to not take their rights as citizens for granted. She further emphasized on the importance of self-directed responsibility that students and everyone needs to nurture among themselves. On a concluding note, Aarya delivered the vote of thanks to every member who made this Republic Day celebration successful and special.  It was a lovely virtual celebration that will be etched in our memories for years to come.
